Bellville Urban Food Garden Seasonal Veggie Box

The Life-Changing Garden in Bellville is now producing Seasonal Veggie Boxes that are available for sale. Every morning the MES team selects the freshest in-season produce from the garden. This box is for those inspired by fresh, seasonal veg and allows that to guide their cooking. The team ensures that it’s a thoughtful mix of root veg, leafy veg and herbs.

The Life-Changing Garden was first developed by a resident at MES (Mould Empower Serve) 2020 and expanded in 2021 under the guidance of Paul Barker, an expert in using eco-friendly and regenerative techniques to grow food. Paul, and the MES team of two, cultivate a bounty of nutrient-rich and delicious herbs, salad greens and vegetables. No inorganic pesticides or artificial fertilisers are used.

The food garden is definitely changing lives by supporting the nutritional wellbeing of homeless and jobless adults in the area; providing water and food security; developing urban farming skills; and providing affordable healthy produce for sale to the community to raise funds for the urban gardening project.

What is in the box?

Every morning the MES team selects the freshest in-season produce from the garden, so the short answer is, it could be anything! This box is for those inspired by fresh, seasonal veg and allows that to guide their cooking. The guys makes sure that it’s a thoughtful mix of root veg, leafy veg and herbs. A typical box could include root vegetables such as beetroot, spring onions, turnips or leaks; a leafy green such as spinach, kale, lettuce or cabbage; as well as other small herbs such as parsley or chives.

How do we order?
