GTP wins pinnacle award for Sha'p Left Healthcare Hub in Bellville

IDA DOWNTOWN ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2020

PINNACLE AWARD: SHA’P LEFT HEALTH CLINIC

In 2020, the Downtown Association (IDA) awarded the Downtown Achievement Pinnacle Award to the Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP) for its work and initiatives related to the Sha’p Left healthcare hub in Bellville, which provides quality, affordable, accessible healthcare to commuters and residents in the area. Located opposite the Bellville public transport interchange, the healthcare hub is sponsored by the Cipla Foundation and was enabled by the City of Cape Town. This project is an example of how the public sector can partner with the private sector to achieve shared goals.

MAIL & GUARDIAN GREENING THE FUTURE AWARD

WINNER: CLEAN AIR & QUALITY OF LIFE CATEGORY

The Greater Tygerberg Partnership is the winner in the Mail & Guardian’s Greening the Future Awards, earning it national recognition for its Zero Waste Schools project, in the Clean Air and the Quality of Life category. The project seeks introduces a designed system for schools to be able to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill, and to entrench a recycling and waste-reduction mindset into the school curriculum. The project was a collaboration between waste education consultancy Waste-Ed, sustainability education consultancy Plant the Seed, and DF Malan High School, with support from the GTP’s primary funder, the City of Cape Town.

PETCO AWARDS JOINT WINNER: BEST COMMUNITY RECYCLING INITIATIVE

BELLVILLE TROLLEY AND RECYCLING PROJECT
