BELLVILLE FIVES is a development project envisioned by the Greater Tygerberg Partnership based on the Fives Futbol concept taking South Africa by storm. Five-a-side is the fastest growing football format in the world. The concept has brought a fast-paced, action-packed game to South Africa, which brings alive small pitches in urban locations. Short games times and manageable team sizes makes the small-sided game more accessible than traditional 11-a-side football.
BELLVILLE FIVES will be an inclusive, affordable and accessible recreational opportunity for all residents and player ability. Life-coaching, skills development and mentoring programmes will be offered as an opportunity to empower and upskill local youth.
The aim is to create and activate a public space for people to use, where local residents can connect outside normal working hours, enhancing social connections, fostering positive interactions and driving a healthy and sustainable community that values active lifestyles.
It is an outdoor facility featuring two fives-football courts in the heart of the Bellville CBD, next to the newly renovated Elizabeth Park. These football courts have the potential to become a focal point in the Bellville area with huge commercial potential to an investor or funder.
The project is perfectly situated to take advantage of a thriving student community in the area consisting of approximately 89,000 students and a total of 116 schools as well as the surrounding business community.
Through the Bellville Fives project, we are using soccer, the most popular sport in the world as a universal language to connect the Bellville community, creating an inclusive, positive environment that promotes
