WITH YOUR HELP, THE TIME HAS COME

It’s happening. Thanks to your support and contributions, the clock tower at the Bellville Civic Centre is about to get a new lease on life. The crowd-funding campaign we ran earlier this year has made it possible for the clock to start again. In all, we raised R97 550 through the generosity of businesses and individuals in Bellville. Work on the project starts this week, so watch this space for more developments.

Work includes:

  • Repairing internal mechanisms of all four clock faces to get them working again
  • Refurbishing the surrounds of the fountain at the base of the tower – including ensuring the fountain uses recycled water
  • Repairing the brick work around the fountain and tower

This is phase one of the project. We hope to continue to raise funds in the future, which will enable us to upgrade the gardens and landscaping within the grounds of the civic centre, to create a new, welcoming public space for the whole of the Bellville community to enjoy.

Thank you to all donors and contributors who have enabled this project to go ahead. Most notably:

Rich Boy Clothing, who donated time and merchandise; De Heuwels Fantasties, Fokofpolisiekar, Hiram Koopman, Francois van Coke and Loki Rothman, who donated their time and merchandise; and many local Bellville residents, who donated cash.

We’ll keep you posted on progress. In the meantime, if you want to donate to support the project’s ongoing development, contact us for details.
