PUBLIC SPACE IN BELLVILLE: JOIN THE CONVERSATION DURING THE RISE AFRICA ACTION FESTIVAL
The GTP is taking part in the Rise Africa Action Festival 2021, with two programme slots on 24 and 26 May, and a Twitter chat hosted on 25 May. Bellville’s public spaces will be under the spotlight during each session, which form workshops about ways to reimagine the Tienie Meyer underpass in the Bellville CBD, and ideas for more effective leadership and management of Elizabeth Park.
Kirsten Wilkins, Managing Director of Open Streets Cape Town, will be hosting Twitter chat from 9am on 25 May, and the second workshop, which discusses new models of leadership for Elizabeth Park, takes place at 3pm – 5pm on 26 May. Register here to join the event.
The Rise Africa Action Festival is hosted by ICLEI Africa – Local Governments for Sustainability, a global network of more than 1,750 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development.
RISE Africa is ICLEI Africa’s new annual event that aims to inspire and foster new connections that lead to swift and impactful actions for enhanced sustainability and resilience in Africa’s urban areas. Exposure to forward-thinking ideas from different disciplines through a range of curated interactions will provide an antidote to outdated “silo” thinking that is well recognised to inhibit innovation. Instead of being another ‘talk shop’ amongst like-minded individuals, RISE Africa will bring a diversity of city role players together in innovative sessions to identify new opportunities for collaborative action.
