In 2016, Cape Town International Airport set a record: it passed the 10 million passenger mark after an impressive 16% growth in international passenger traffic.

In 2017, the airport has done even better. In just 6 months (from January to June 2017), its international passenger traffic grew 27% year on year.

Fast growing markets include North America, Brazil, France, Germany and South East Asia. Closer to home, strong growth was recorded for Ethiopia, Kenya, Mauritius and Zimbabwe.

Ambitious plans for 2017 and beyond

The airport has added various new flights and route expansions. The result is that more than 130,000 international seats will be added to Cape Town International Airport’s capacity during the upcoming South African summer season (IATA winter) starting in October 2017.

New international routes include:

  • Cape Town to Victoria Falls
  • Cologne to Cape Town
  • Vienna to Cape Town
A wonderful opportunity for the Greater Tygerberg area
