Greater Tygerberg Partnership hosted its first Parow Clean-up intervention to address the litter problem in the area. The clean-up operation took place on Thursday 10 November when a team of 120 volunteers started cleaning up our community.
The team set out to declare war on waste from Voortrekker Road to Parow Station and from Louis Trichardt to Klosser Street.
We collected 211kg of waste:
- 20kg of tins
- 30kg of plastic bottles
- 22kg of glass
- 40kg of cardboard
- 40kg on non-recyclable plastics were collected and turned into 182 eco-bricks
- 59kg of un-sorted waste that we gave to a recycling company
