open streets bellville Greater Tygerberg Partnership

Open Streets Cape Town with the Greater Tygerberg Partnership is making a difference in the community, bringing streets back to the people with the annual Open Streets Bellville 2016! Open Streets Cape Town, a non- profit organization, has a series of Open Streets Sunday’s, events that reconnect people with the streets and promote non-motorised transport in our city.

The event that took place last year in Bellville, keeps children and adults alike entertained with sporting activities, a book corner for those who love the written word, skateboarding, graffiti, cycling, street yoga and lots of music and dancing, as well as showcasing of art projects. It is a Sunday outing for the kids, an after church activity for congregants, a vibe for the residents and a welcoming space to go for the destitute, bringing everyone together.

The upcoming Open Streets in Bellville will be on the 20th of November 2016 holding a space of 1, 2 kilometres. Voortrekker road will closed from the corner of Durban road until the corner of Bill Bezuidenhout road from 10:00 up to 15:00.

Open streets community meetings take place every Thursday at the Greater Tygerberg Partnership offices from 16:00 until 17:00 and these communicate how the whole event will take shape. People of the community are encouraged to join in these meeting especially those who have a desire to introduce an activity for the day as well as those that wish to assist in the preparation for the day’s event. Those who would like to join and know more should visit the Facebook event or visit Open Streets website to register as a vendor, volunteer, organising committee or even run an activity on the day.

We hope you are keen to join us! For more information visit our event page.
