co-working (noun)

Oxford Dictionary defines co-working (or coworking) as the use of an office or other working environment by people who are self-employed or working for different companies, typically so as to share equipment, ideas, and knowledge: the whole idea of co-working is to bring bright, creative people together and let the ideas collide.

Co-working, from basic incubation spaces to luxurious shared offices, is a global phenomenon that is rapidly changing the working landscape and driving entrepreneurship and innovation.

The GTP is exploring the possibility of establishing a co-working space in the Bellville region and has commissioned a project to research the viability of establishing a co-working space and develop an appropriate business model.

“Not only would having a co-working space in Bellville provide a place of work for entrepreneurs and start-ups coming from this area, but it could also play a major role towards the regeneration of the area,” GTP CEO Chris O’Connor said.
