Johan (JP) Bester
Johan (JP) Bester Chair
JP completed his articles at PWC in 1977. He was a senior Accounting lecturer at University of Stellenbosch before joining Sanlam in 1980. After holding various positions in the Group, he was appointed General Manager in 1993, Chief Accountant in 1997 and Company Secretary in 1998. He was also responsible for the group-wide implementation of various projects, including King III corporate governance programmes. He retired at the end of 2012, but still represents Sanlam on various subsidiaries and associated entities.
Sanett Uys

Sanett is the founder and managing director of Serendipity Remix. She has an extensive background in property economics and property research, as well as an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch. Previously Sanett worked as the Editor of Rode’s Retail Report of South Africa, research manager at Broll Property Group and Director of Western Cape operations and research at Colliers International South Africa. Currently she serves as the executive for Research, Consulting and Valuations for JHI Advisory. Sanett also serves as the Chair of the Research Committee and a Member of the National Council for SAPOA, and fulfils several committee positions for the South Africa Council of Shopping Centres. She is also the previous National Chair of the Women’s Property Network.
Larry Pokpas

Larry is the Institutional Planner and Executive Assistant to the Rector and Vice-Chancellor at, and graduate from, the
University of the Western Cape, co-ordinating and implementing several strategic change initiatives. Since 2003 he has coordinated several internationally funded programmes and national and regional partnerships to enhance responsiveness and capacity of regional higher education. He actively participates in national e-skills activities and initiatives. Larry is member of a joint Cape Higher Education Consortium-Western Province Government task team, and the Western Cape Education Council.
Rethabile Mashale-Sonibare

Rethabile has a wealth of experience in the non-profit sector having headed up a number of large-scale projects and consultancies, which include the role of sports for development in public health, understanding gender and vulnerability, HIV/AIDS prevention and the provision of basic education in Southern Africa. She is a trained social worker and has a Master’s degree in Social Policy and Management and is completing a PhD. Her research is focused on governance in non-profit organisations. She is also serves on the board of two nonprofit organisations whose work is primarily focused on literacy and improving educational outcomes for South African children and young people.
Rethabile is the founder and Director of a well-known non-profit organisation that provides primary school support programs to young girls in Khayelitsha.
Justin Coetzee

Justin is a registered professional Transport Engineer and the founder of the GoMetro, a mobile application that pairs public transport operations, a predictable event-based dataset, with the big data of unpredictable desires of individual trip-making, to improve public transport usability in Cape Town and across the country. Justin has served on the SAICE Young Members Panel National Committee and the CESA YPF National Committee, as well as provided mentorship through the mLab and Innovation Hub platforms. He has won countless local and international awards for his work, including the Vodafone AppStars Global Best App of the year in 2013, Top 10 Global Mobile Startup in the VentureOut Challenge in 2013, and the Frost and Sullivan Global Best Practices Award for New Product Innovation in the Value Added Services for the Transportation Industry this year.
Craig Kensley

Craig is a serial entrepreneur with a background in tourism, marketing, management consulting and local economic development. Craig has previously served on the board of Cape Town Tourism and the South African Youth Travel Confederation, and currently oversees the management of the Kimberley Diamond Cup Skateboarding Championship. Craig has lectured strategic communications and marketing at Cape Peninsula University of Technology, designed projects and programmes for National and Provincial Departments of Tourism, and currently runs his business Pragmatics which provides training and consulting in SMME development in the hospitality industry.
Dr Jaisheila Rajput

Jaisheila is passionate about transforming the way we do business. She is a fervent believer in developing practical and comprehensive solutions that have the biggest value with long-term benefits and impact. Jaisheila obtained a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
From the beginning, she has leveraged her research and innovation capabilities into developing practical, industry relevant solutions. She has a career spanning over a decade in large corporates in the automotive, chemicals and construction industries.
Her rich background includes technical, management systems, strategy and sustainability. She has worked in several countries including South Africa, Germany and Hong Kong. Jaisheila brings a fresh global perspective to the development of solutions for companies doing business in Africa.
Prof Erwin Schwella

Prof Schwella obtained a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Stellenbosch University in 1998. He holds a full professorship in Public Leadership and was a Director of the School of Public Leadership at the same university. An author of over 50 academic publications, Prof Schwella consults on governance, leadership, organisational development and public management, and has lectured in South Africa and abroad. He is a rated researcher at the
National Research Foundation and holds directorships with education and health companies.
Owen Leslie Mbundu

Owen is has extensive experience in the spheres of New Product Development; Account Management; Marketing Management. He has over twenty years’ exposure in the areas of design and project management, company branding and re-branding, performance management systems, conception of mission, vision and values, brand portfolio management, strategic marketing and advertising and financial management. His research is focussed on entrepreneurship. He is passionate about ‘joining the dots’ between big business and entrepreneurs.

Ncedo has a wealth of experience in financial planning, estate planning, taxation, investment and financial analysis.. He is the Business Development Executive at a prominent international financial services corporate. He is responsible for public sector business development , client relationship management and marketing.

Chris O’Connor is the CEO of the Greater Tygerberg Partnership.
He has 25 years’ experience in local government which spans across social and economic development, planning and urban management, housing, community services and facilities.
